Easy DIY: Best Methods for Transferring Photos to Wood and Which Sealant Works Best?

Hi fellow crafters,
I'm trying to create some personalized wooden photo gifts (like small coasters or framed plaques) and I'm looking for the absolute best and easiest DIY method for transferring a printed image onto the wood surface.
I've seen several tutorials online, and they all recommend different approaches, which is confusing! I don't want to waste time or materials on a method that will look streaky or peel off later.
Can anyone with experience weigh in on which method gives the cleanest, most professional-looking result for a beginner?
Specifically, I need help comparing these options and answering a key question about finishing:
- Which Print Type? Is a laser-printed image required for the best transfer (e.g., for the solvent method), or can I get good results using a standard inkjet print (e.g., with the wax paper or freezer paper method)?
- Mod Podge Transfer: For the common "glue it on, then rub the paper off" Mod Podge method, what's the trick to removing the paper completely without scratching the image underneath?
- The Sealant: This is critical! Once the image is transferred, what is the most durable, non-yellowing, and easy-to-apply clear coat sealant (matte or satin finish preferred) that will protect the photo from moisture and scratches?
I'm aiming for high-quality, long-lasting results. Any advice on the specific brand of product that works best for the transfer or the final seal would be fantastic!
